How do I sell specific lots? (Versus Purchase – VSP)
How do I sell specific lots? (Versus Purchase – VSP)
Updated this week

A Versus Purchase (VSP) allows a sell order to be matched with specific buy lots for that symbol.

To process a VSP, please send an email to [email protected] with the following details before the trades settle:

  • Symbol

  • Sell date

  • Sell price

  • Sell quantity

  • Purchase date

  • Purchase price

  • Purchase quantity

Please note: We can match up to two whole purchase lots for each sell order. Partial lots are not permitted.

Example:

Suppose an owner of 100 shares of ABC stock, divided into the following lots:

  • 50 shares purchased on January 1 at $10 per share

  • 30 shares purchased on February 1 at $20 per share

  • 20 shares purchased on March 1 at $30 per share

After a sell order for 50 shares, the sale may be matched to the 30 shares purchased on February 1 at $20 per share and the 20 shares purchased on March 1 at $30 per share. Simply email us after the sell order is completed and inform us of the preferred matching purchase lots.
