Paperless delivery (E-Documents) may have stopped if an email notification was undeliverable.
In this case, Firstrade is required to mail paper statements and trade confirmations. To reactivate electronic delivery, the account holder must re-enroll the email address for the account. The email address must be correct and able to receive emails.
Why Paper Delivery Resumes
SEC guidance on electronic delivery, which FINRA applies to its member firms, allows a broker-dealer to meet these requirements electronically. Electronic delivery counts only when the customer receives notice that the documents are available, and the firm has reason to believe the delivery was successful. The email notification serves as that notice. When the email is returned as undeliverable, electronic delivery has not occurred, so Firstrade switches the account to paper delivery by mail until a working email address is re-enrolled.
