Overnight trading is an extended trading session available from 8 PM to 4 AM ET (Sunday 8 PM through Friday 4 AM), which enables trading for 20 hours a day, 5 days a week. Currently more than 1,200 stocks and ETFs are available.

When does the overnight session start and end?

  • Overnight trading starts at 8 PM ET Sunday night and ends at 4 AM ET Friday morning.

Overnight trading order rules

  • Orders placed after 8 PM ET will remain open until the end of the overnight session. Any unfilled orders will be automatically cancelled at 4 AM ET the next morning.

  • Only limit orders are supported.

  • Short selling is not supported.

  • Fractional trading is not supported.

  • Limited day trade buying power is provided in the overnight session.

Placing an order

You can trade any of our more than 1,200 supported securities in whole shares, using limit orders during overnight trading hours, by following the below steps:

Website

  1. Go to Trading -> Stocks/ETFs

  2. Enter the order details (limit type orders only), including the stock symbol. Supported stocks are denoted with a crescent moon.

  3. Change the duration to Overnight.

Mobile app

  1. Search a stock symbol. Supported stocks are denoted with a crescent moon.

  2. Select Trade Stock.

  3. Fill in the order details (limit type orders only) and change the duration to Overnight.

Overnight charts

Charts can be toggled between 1 day and 24 hours on both the app and website.

Mobile app (Overview Chart)

  • You may toggle between Regular Trading Hours (RTH) and Extended Trading Hours (ETH)

Website (Real-Time Chart)

  • Selecting regular trading hours (RTH) will display data from 9:30am - 4pm ET

  • Selecting extended trading hours (ETH) will display data from 12am - 12am ET
