How do I place extended hours trades?
Extended Trading Hours
Day+EXT (Extended Hours) — 7:00 am – 8:00 pm ET
Pre-Market: 7:00 am – 9:30 am
Regular Market Hours: 9:30 am – 4:00 pm
After-Market: 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Overnight — 8:00 pm – 4:00 am ET
How to Place Overnight and Extended Hours (Day+Ext) Stock Trades
To access after-hour trading options, log in to your account, click on the Trading tab, then on the Order Entry pane, click on the Duration dropdown to choose Overnight or Day+Ext.
What you should know about trading during extended hours:
Same $0 commission!
Only limit orders are allowed.
The extended-hours market is separate from the regular intraday trading-session.
Convenience from the new duration to trade through pre-market, regular market, and after-market sessions with one order. Day+Ext order will allow you to trade in all sessions.
Order Modification - Price changes and cancellations of extended hours orders are permitted before the order is executed.
Available Securities - Securities listed on NYSE, NASDAQ, or AMEX generally are available for trading during extended hours. OTC stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and options generally may be traded only during regular market hours.
Extended Hours Trading is available to all customers. Log in to your Firstrade account and click Accounts → Profile, and at the bottom of the page, click Enroll in Extended Hours Trading to read and accept the Extended Hours Trading Disclosure.
