Typically, stocks that undergo name change, reverse split, merger or other corporate action events, we have to exchange the old shares for the new shares with the transfer agent for that security. Normally this exchange with the transfer agent and the final allocation are done overnight. There would be times when the process may take longer (e.g.1-2 weeks); during which a security number would temporarily replace the trading symbol. Normally, this type of pending corporate action positions cannot be sold until completion/allocation.
